Ⅰ. Analysis of the teaching materials
This is the first teaching period of this unit. The central part of this period is the rea

ding passage with the title of “Theme Parks –fun and more than fun” talking about different theme parks with different themes and introducing three famous theme parks: Disneyland, Dollywood and Camelot Park.

Ⅲ.Teaching methods and activities:
To achieve different teaching aims, various kinds of teaching methods and activities will be adopted throughout this period, such as TBL (Task-based learning), skimming, pair work, brainstorm and others, which can offer students opportunities to fulfill tasks in which they can use language to achieve a specific outcome.

Ⅳ.Teaching aids:
Computer , projector, blackboard.

Ⅴ.Teaching important points:
(1) Make students have a clear mind for the structure of the text. (2) Help students understand the theme of the text.

Ⅵ.Teaching difficulties:
(1) So many new words may affect students’ understanding. (2) How to understand the title “Theme Parks -- fun and more than fun” .

Ⅷ.Teaching procedures:
Step1: Lead-in (To watch a short video) Arouse students’ interests by showing a short video about theme parks. Meanwhile, introduce this new unit to them. Then ask students to guess what the meaning of “Theme Parks” is. Step2: Pre-reading (To teach new words and expressions) New words and expressions: theme; amuse; various; be famous for. In order to help students know how to use and memorize these new words and phrases, a short passage can give them some reference. Step3: Fast-reading (To skim and have a match) Ask students to read the text quickly, and then do a match to get the main idea of each paragraph. The reading part mainly tells us there are various kinds of theme parks and it also gives three examples: Disneyland, Dollywood and Camelot Park .This step can help students have a general understanding for the structure of the text. Step 4: Careful-reading After got the general idea of the text, we’ll find more detailed information from each paragraph . (1) Para.1: Answer questions: 1) .Is there just one kind of theme park in the world? 2).What are theme parks mainly for? (Para.1 is mainly about there are various kinds of theme parks, and different theme parks have different themes.) (2) Para.2: True of False 1).Disneyland can be found everywhere in the world. 2).You can meet any cartoon characters at Disneyland. 3).Tourism develops where a Disneyland is built. (Para.2 gives us an introduction to Disneyland.) (3) Para.3: Complete the table 1) The theme of Dollywood 2) The example of activities (Para.3 mainly introduces Dollywood .)

(4) Para.4: Fill in blanks. Ask students to read paragraph 4, and fill in blanks with key words. (Para.4 describes a wonderful picture of ancient England --Camelot Park.) Step 5: Answer the question How do you understand the title “Theme Parks –fun and more than fun”? (This question can help students to understand the theme of the text .Theme Parks are not only for fun, but also a paradise for leaning. What’s more, students are encouraged to open hearts to the outside world.) Step 6: Brainstorm If you have a chance to design a theme park, what are themes and activities? (Brainstorm is a good chance for students to think deeply so as to develop their creativities .At the same time , it can help students cultivate cooperation spirit ). Step 7: The Guessing game After students share their ideas, teacher will show her music theme park –Music Heaven with brief introduction .Then students will experience the Guessing Game in Music Heaven. Play some pieces of music, and then let students have a guess: what’s the type? (Enjoy the beauty of the music with students and develop their competitive spirit.) Step 8: Homework At first, teacher will give them a sample –the Introduction of Music Heaven, and ask students read it together .Then students will be asked to write an introduction for the theme park designed by themselves for travel brochure about 120 words. Step9: Sublimation Call students to hold dreams and take efforts to make their dreams come true .At the same time, give them strength and confidence .

Introducing the topic by showing a video which can set a scene ( 设置情景 ) and arouse students’ interests.

If you want to experience the ancient days and great deeds of English knights and ladies , then Camelot Park is the place for you .Every area of the park is modeled after the life in the days of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. You can watch magic shows and see the jousting with swords .To enter a world of fantasy about ancient England, come to Camelot Park .

Cultivate students’ speaking abilities as often as possible.

【Post-reading】 【Asking questions】Class , we can see in theme parks , you can not only amuse yourself ,but also learn much knowledge about cartoons ,culture ,history or etc. So the meaning of the title includes two points, point 1: It’s fun to visit; Point 2: We can get much information so it’s educational.

By asking question to let students have a better understanding for the theme of the text .On the other hand, to encourage students take part in outdoor activities so as to achieve the purpose of quality-oriented education (素质教育).

【Transition】:Till now, we have finished the reading part, at the same time; we had a wonderful journey in Disneyland, Dollywood and Camelot park.

Would you like to know the theme park in my mind? Ok, let’s come to my music theme park . Name is Music Haven .It’s on the bank of Yangtze River .People can appreciate music, learn music culture .Of Course, the activities are also attractive .Class, do you want to have a wonderful experience? 【Transition】:As we know, music can be classified into various types, such as rock music , classical music , rap music and other types . 【Guessing game】Next , I will play some pieces of music ,please have a guess –What’s the type of it ? Just imagine, the theme park designed by yourself has been built, and you’re invited to write an introduction for travel brochure about 120 words.

【Listening】

Consolidate what they have learnt in the class. While , in order to remove difficulties ,the above example can give them some guidance . Emotion education, played a very important role in teaching, will be revealed.

【Sublimation】 :This is my dream .Everyone has a dream. Maybe be become a writer, an engineer, travel around the world or build a theme park .But how to realize? Efforts, we need efforts!
