Background information: Students:70 junior high school students in Class one and Class two Lesson duration:10mins Teaching objectives: (a)to enable students learn how to pronounce /t∫/、/d?/

(b)To enable students know the correspond place of articulation of every phonetic symbol. (c)To enable students learn to pronounce some English words which have these phonetic symbols. (d)to enable students to use these phonetic symbols correctly (e)to enable students to be a good English speaker Teaching contents:two phonetic symbols Teaching aids:PPT , blackboard , chalk Optional activities and homework: Optional activities:Practice in pairs and check the pronunciation each other or compete in groups Procedure: Warm-up:a game,students race to be the first to read out the word that teacher shows on PPT. Stage one,presentation. a) Tell students there are 26 letters. Q:There are how many phonetic symbols,vowels and consonants?

b) Teaching task:two consonants:/t∫/、/d?/ 、 c)Use PPT to show the place of articulation,tell students how to pronounce. d)Read the two consonants to set an example to make students know the pronunciation.(Teacher inspects and tells students the differences between /t∫/ and /d?/.) Stage two,Practice. a) Students read and repeat together. b) Ask students to read the two consonants and the words.(Teacher gives appreciation or corrects wrong pronunciation.) Stage three,Production. c) Task:Students find some words containing these phonetic

symbols.(Teacher writes them down in blackboard.) Homework: Firstly,listen to the type and follow the tape to repeat for three to five times.Secondly,make up the words by using the phonetic symbols that we learned today,and the more,the better. Reflection: The lesson went on well.Students werequite concentrated and interested.Students took part in the class activity actively and listened to the teacher carefully.But some students still have difficulty pronouncing the English words correctly.More practice and checking are needed for these students in the next lesson.
