Fall Semester 2014-2015
Freshmen Final Exam Make a movie! Background During the term, we have studied a wide variety of situations for using oral English. Some of the things we hav
e looked at are: Greetings Introductions Goodbyes Invitations Making Requests Describing People and Things Giving and Receiving Directions The Test For the final test, you are to create a video which uses some of the language from each of the areas that we have studied. You are to work in groups of 4-6 students. The movie should last for between 8 -12 minutes and cover a continuing and developing situation. ? The topic is up to you! Be creative and original. You are the directors of your very own English movie! ? Students should NOT be reading from scripts and the dialogue should be well rehearsed and sound natural. ? Your movie should have a continuous and developing story or plot line including several events, a climax, and resolution. ? It is important that you create a video that gives each member of the group approximately the same amount of dialogue and time. ? The videos will be shown in class on December 15th and 22nd Grading: Worth 30 points total. You will be graded as a group and individually. ? Content (10 points)- In your movie, there should be a clear plot (or story) with interesting characters and a climax—don’t forget to be creative! Each person should talk for an equal amount of time and should be 8-12 minutes long. ? Body Language (10 points)- You will be graded on your performance in the video—your confidence, your stance, confidence, hand gestures, and facial expressions. ? Oral English (10 minutes)– Make sure your recording is good enough to hear in class! Avoid too much background noise and speak loudly. You will be graded on vocabulary and including the topics we talked about in class, pronunciation, grammar, few mistakes, being memorized. PRACTICE! PRACTICE! PRACTICE!
