Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30

minutes to write an essay entitled There Is No End to Learning. You should write at least 120 words following the outline given below in Chinese: There Is No End to Learning 1. 2. 一些学生进入大学就放松了学习,然而学习是没有止境的 论述上述观点 After being enrolled in colleges, many students just want to be relaxed, thus idling away their time on campus. Yet there is no end to learning. First of all, colleges are where we sharpen our mind, broaden our understanding and obtain specialized training. The four-year academic life is a practical and necessary step to prepare us for the fierce competition in the future. Furthermore, as Alder, a great philosopher, once said, education is not complete with graduation. A college degree can never ensure long-term job success. Maintaining success in a job depends on education after graduation. Most importantly, learning is rewarding both materially and spiritually by enriching our life and perfecting our personality. minutes write an essay entitled Should Universities Keep Expanding Enrollment. You should write at least 120 words following the outline given below in Chinese: 1、 近年来中国各大高校连年扩招,许多学生得以接受高等教育 2、 高校扩招也引发了一些问题 3、 “我”对高校扩招的看法 Increased enrollment in universities of recent years allows a growing number of students to receive higher education. However, enrollment expansion creates a series of problems. The first tough(困难的,坚韧的,严格的,粗暴的) issue most universities and colleges face is inadequate (不够的) infrastructure (基 础结构, 基础设施) and teachers. The conflict (冲突) between enlarged student body and insufficient (不够的) facilities (设施) makes it difficult to ensure(担保) the teaching quality. Job-hunting is another serious problem, of which the graduates bear the brunt(压力,冲突). Because the rate of enrollment expansion is faster than the need of the job market, more students graduate every year, only to find graduation means unemployment. In my view, higher education in China should slow down the pace of enrollment expansion and focus on(集中于) improving the teaching quality. So unquestioning acceptance does great harm. For another, when doubting what is taught, students will be eager to seek the truth, either by resorting to(求助于) reference(参考) books or by turning to(求助于,求教, 查阅) teachers for further arguments (论据) . Undoubtedly, students will benefit greatly from the truth-seeking(寻求真理) process. What’s more, when they have fun in learning, their interest in what is taught will grow and interest is the best teacher. Therefore, students should be encouraged to adopt (采纳, 收养) a skeptical attitude in class.
