Using Language Alexander Graham Bell.说课稿 济宁市实验中学 丁守峰 Good morning, everyone. It is a great honor for me to be here to share my teaching plan. I will divide the

representation into five parts:Analysis of the teaching material, the teaching aims, the important and difficult points, and the teaching procedure. Part 1 Analysis of teaching material: The theme of this unit is inventors and invention. The aim of this reading is to follow the inventing process of a real inventor: Alexander Graham Bell. The passage mainly talks about why and how he came to produce his most invention: the telephone. Through reading the passage, students can know more about this great inventor and understand what qualities a great inventor should have. Besides, students can realize to be great, one should be curious, devoted and determined. Based on the analysis the teaching material, my teaching aims are as follows: . Part 2 Teaching aims 1. Aims of the knowledge: (1)Through reading, students can have a basic understanding of passage. (2)Learn some useful words expressions and important structures. 2.Aims of the abilities: (1)Encourage students to use different reading skills such as scanning, skimming etc. to get information needed to solve problems. (2)Encourage students to use the information they get when reading to finish different tasks to develop different abilities. 3.Aims of the emotion: (1)Help students to develop the sense of cooperation and competition through group works, to develop their personalities and creativities. (2) Let students know what qualities a great person should have and thus arouse their desire to work hard to achieve their dreams. Part 3 Important and difficult points Students can use reading skills to understand the meaning of the passages and can use the information they get to solve problems. Part 4 Part 4Teaching methods I will use Communicative Teaching Method and Task-based language Teaching. I design some tasks to help the students learn. I will give them enough chances to practice and use group work to let the students take an active part in all kinds of activities. That is “Learning by doing, learning by using”. Let the students be the masters of the class teaching. Part 5 Teaching Procedure ●Step 1. Pre-reading&Leading in Show students different kinds of telephones and let students discuss what conveniences the telephone has brought about and then introduce the inventor of the telephone and ask students if they know something about him. Before reading the passage, ask students to look at the title and the pictures to predict what the passage is mainly about. This step is to let students know the contributions Bell made to the world and develop the students’ ability to predict the content of the passage with the help of the title, photos etc.and then arouse their desire to read the text to check their answers. ● Step 2. While-reading

1. Fast-reading Read the passage quickly and make a brief biography for Alexander Graham Bell. Name:__________________ Birth time and place:_____________________ 11years old:______________ 1876:__________________________________ 75 years old:______________ His most famous invention:__________ ______ This step is designed to help students to use fast reading skills such as scanning, skimming to get the general idea of the text. So it will be easy for students to carry on detailed reading. Also, this is a good chance for students to practice their oral and writing abilities.. 2. Careful reading Ask students to read the passage carefully and after that, I will design different tasks and let each group choose a certain task to finish. Task 1: Questions: (1) What interest did he develop when he was young? Why did he have such an interest? (2)What inventions mentioned in the passage did Bell make? Task 2: Translate his most famous saying and what does his saying mean to you? Task 3: What is the main idea of Para 3? (No more than 7words) Task 4: How did he discover the tetrahedron shape? What is the meaning of the discovery? Task 5: Explain the third sentence in paragraph 7? Although he is most often associated with the invention of the telephone, he was indeed a continuing searcher after practical solutions to improve the quality of everybody’s life? The purpose of this step is to let students cooperate in each group to finish different tasks with the information they get while reading and thus can further understand the passage. Also, this is a good chance to develop their team spirits. ●Step 3. Post-reading In this procedure, I design different activities for students to take part in. (1) Crazy reading and reciting: Find out the following phrases and sentences, read, understand and recite them. (Para 2)_______ ________you do you’ll be certain to find something that you have never seen before. (Para 3)_______ _______ this exploring around and his dynamic spirit _______ led to… (Para 5)The patent was given in 1876, but _______ ______ ______ ______ five day later ______ Bell… (Para 6)________ ________ ________, it has proved invaluable in the design of bridge. 灵感闪现____________________ 充分意识到_______________ 与……联系在一起______________________ (2) Discussion: Topics:① What qualities do you think Alexander Graham Bell has to become a great inventor? ② Do you think it necessary for us students to own mobile phones? Give your opinion and reasons? The purpose of this step is to let students consolidate some main and difficult points and use the information to analyze and solve problems. This step will also have a moral educational effect on them.

●Step 4. Summary Let students make an assessment about what they learned. ●Step 5. Assignment: (1) Read the passage again to have a thorough understanding of the passage and recite important sentences and phrases. (2) Write a biography for Alexander Graham Bell.
