Ban Cell Phones in Class In today’s world, cell phones have become much more popular among students than several years ago. With various functions, cell phones can be used by students for ent
ertainment purpose, as well as an access to huge amount of learning materials. Though using cell phones in class has both advantages and disadvantages, they should not be banned in class. There are three reasons to support this idea. First, technology has been developing as fast as a rocket. And it it widely believed that the speed will continue increasing in the future. Under this background, people certainly ought to invite more advanced tools into class. Therefore, cell phone is a pretty good element to make the teaching and learning process more efficient, more interesting, more accurate and more interactive. For example, with powerful cameras, a student who write things slowly won’t have to worry about missing some important notes anymore. Second, it takes time for students to use cell phones properly in class, but the education about this is absent actually. With only banning cell phones’ use in class doesn’t make any sense. In the long run, teachers along with students should try to get used to cell phones in class. It’s quite normal for students to use them in “wrong ways” at first. Just like the Internet first come into being, so many teenagers became addicted to it seriously. But after a period of time, when people’s attitudes towards it gradually changed, it turns out to be a thing used so frequently in education. That’s true for class cell phone using too. Enough education is mostlyneeded but not banning.
Another reason is that banning cell phones in class may not be that useful as people think. Most supporters argue that cell phones cause students to be distracted. But the reason why students can’t concentrate on the teacher is not only that they find things fun in their cell phones. It could be that the class is too noisy, or the teacher is too boring, or the knowledge is too difficult to understand, or some of the students just don’t want to learn. Cell phones do not have to be responsible for all the faults, also the effect of banning cell phones in class it limited. We should not banning cell phones in class. If students can be guided to use them appropriately, they can learn things better than those who live in ages without a cell phone.
