The Environment Is More Important than Economic Development
In order to develop the economic, people have done too many harmful things to the environment in the past decades. They are ju
st pursuing blindly for more material comfort, and hardly think about the deliverability of environment. Therefore, the natural balance was broken, and now the nature punishes the greedy human. The environmental problems eat at human’s existence and development and people have to pay more for the environmental modification to develop the economic. How ironic! From this, human beings must come to their senses that environment is more important than economic development. From the very beginning, we should be well aware of the reality that the one and only earth is the premise of our economic development. Clear evidence shows that environmental status quo is not bright: energy crisis, land desertification, global warming, marine pollution, etc. And what the economic development is dependent on such things. In instance, the agriculture depends on the land resource while the industry depends mainly on the energy resources. Without the support of environment, how can the economic develop? Overuse of the environment and make us lose the resources we should have had, it means we forfeit the future of economic. So, environment decides the existence of economic and a good environment helps a long-term development of economic. Also, the experiences tell us that some degrading environments are irreversible, so it produces very little effect to the environment modification by developing economic first and modifying later. In the past, many developed countries used this policy to have a fast improvement. It did work at the beginning, but no longer, the problem came. Stale air, polluted river annoyed people’s health and some resources, such as fossil energy, coal, rare animal resources, and so on, lost forever. Though these developed countries paid a lot and tried to save the situation, it was irreversible and some environmental problems are still bothering them today. To gain these experiences, we can’t spoil the ship for a halfpennyworth of tar. Furthermore, economic development is for a better life, but if it has to pay by the environment, the original intention is wrenched. To some extends, the economic development is to improve our life qualities. But, at the expense of environment, we wouldn’t get that comfort and even be threatened to our health. No one wants to live in a polluted earth with a lot of money. That’s why we can’t stand it.
