一、 Analysis of the teaching material
The topic of this unit is friendship. From this uint, students will understand what friendship is and learn to get on well with friends and cherish them. In the reading part “Anne’s best friend”, students will learn the story of Anne, whose family was jewish and know something about the history of World War II, and the friendship between Anne and her diary. This is a reading class, so I think much emphasis should be put on training students’ reading ability. And this is their first English lesson after coming to senior high school, so it’s important to inspire their interest in English.

一 、 Analysis of the teaching material
(一).Teaching Aims
Knowledge aims
1. Guide students understand the reading passage 2. Help them master the new words, expressions and important sentences.

1.Develop students’ reading skills. 2.Guide students to learn to talk about friendship in English freely.

Moral aims
Guide students to know the importance of friendship and cherish it.

Cultural awareness
Guide students to know something about the history of World War II.

二、Analysis of the Students
The students have the basic abilities of listening, speaking, reading, and writing, but there are large differences in their personality and level of English, so the teaching design should have gradients. That aims at giving every student more opportunities to practice what they have learned, to express their ideas, feelings, and experience and to develop their autonomous and cooperative learning ability.
