mobile phones and computers have become commonplaces in people’s daily life and, , less people tend to write letters nowadays, the skill of letter writing will soon disappear completely.
, mobile phones and computers do have their own merits in communication, the most important of which is their speed and convenience. People can talk almost anytime and anywhere with their friends over the cell phone, or through the instant messengers on the Internet like QQ, or MSN. such modern devices, writing a letter seems to be way out of fashion, and takes up too much time and effort. , after the letter is finished, the task is not over yet, it has to beposted. , letter writing is almost forgotten by modern people.
letters will eventually die out one day, they have irreplaceable virtues. they carry personal feelings and emotions any other ways of communication. , you are actually showing more of your sincerity and respect to the person who you are writing to. a friend of yours receives a hand-written letter from you, how can he or she not be moved and impressed by this traditional, apparently more precious and romantic way of communication? letter writing no longer plays a leading role in people’s daily life, we cannot ignore its unique value. when you want to express your love, writing a letter may turn out to be more effective than any other modern methods. 偏题的可 能性 只写青少年问题是否由于母亲在外工作而非在家照顾孩子引起， 却忽略了女性的社会地位有了巨大改变这个的不争事实。
the position of women in society has undergone a dramatic change in the past twenty years this is a direct cause of the indisputable increase in juvenile-related problems during this period.
It is now accepted that young women should find work on leaving school; indeed to rely totally on their parents’ financial support is no longer an option in many families. Likewise, once they get married, the majority of women continue working since the financial pressures of setting up a house and establishing a reasonable standard of living often require two incomes. Twenty years ago it was common for women to give up work once they had children and devote their time to caring for their children. This is no longer the general rule and the provision of professionally-run child care facilities and day nurseries have removed much of the responsibility for child rearing that used to fall to mothers. However, these facilities come at a cost and often require two salaries coming into a family to be afforded. the increase in the number of working mothers has resulted in children being brought up less well than previously. Indeed it could be argued that by giving mothers the opportunity to work and earn extra money children can be better provided for than previously. There is more money for luxuries and holidays and a more secure family life is possible. Of course there are limits as to the amount of time that ideally should be spent away from home and the ideal scenario would be for one of the parents (often the wife) to have a part-time job and thus be available for their children before and after school. It is important to establish the correct balance between family life and working life. (308 words) 反对的部分
例3：Culture Vs. Technology
? When a country develops its technology, the traditional
skills and ways of life die out. It is pointless to try and keep them alive.
? To what extent do you agree or disagree with this
偏题的可 能性 只写保持传统技能和生活方式是否有意义，却忽略了随着科 技发展很多传统技能和生活方式逐渐消失的不争事实。 Traditional skills and ways of life 把抽象的问题具体化
e.g. letter writing, face-to-face meeting
固定套路 with the development of technology many traditional skills and ways of life are fading away in our modern world, the efforts to preserve these traditional things are of no use. 举例＋对比 , quite a number of traditional skills and ways of life are gradually disappearing. For instance, people used to write letters and meet each other face to face frequently before the advent of telephones and computers. But now modern technology has made it possible for the majority of people to communicate conveniently over the telephone or on the Internet, and the skill of letter writing seems to be no longer necessary. Likewise, face-to-face meeting is not a must any more, since most things that used to be carried out in the real world can now be done in the virtual world. it is pointless to keep these traditional skills and ways of life alive. Even though a great many traditions no longer play a leading role today, as they did in the past, they have their unique value in our modern life. Handwritten letters, for example, carries special emotions and feelings that modern technology cannot convey, and the virtual world will never make you feel the warmth of a face-to-face talk. 延伸＋举例 it necessary to preserve traditional skills and lifestyles as far as possible, for it is these things, rather than modern technology, that serve as the most effective means by which human beings can pass on what they did in the past to the future generations. I would like to begin by pointing out that ‘traditional skills and ways of life’ are not automatically of one country, but of a culture or community. In many ways, the history of civilization is the history of technology: from the discovery of fire to the invention of the wheel to the development of the Internet, we have been moving on from previous ways of doing things. Some technologies, such as weapons of mass destruction, are of negative impact. Others, such as medical advances, positively help people to live better or longer, and so very much help traditional ways of life. Surely, few people would seek to preserve such traditions as living in caves! Interestingly, technology can positively contribute to the keeping alive of traditional skills and ways of life. For example, the populations of some islands are too small to have normal schools Rather than breaking up families by sending children to the mainland, education authorities have been able to use the Internet to deliver schooling online. In addition, the Internet, and modern refrigeration techniques, are being used to keep alive the traditional skills of producing salmon; it can now be ordered from, and delivered to, anywhere in the world. , without suggesting that all technology is necessarily good, I think it is by no means ‘pointless’. In any way, to try to keep traditions alive with technology. We should not ignore technology, because it can be our friend and support our way of life. (254 words)
