Teaching Aims 1. Learning how to describe a region, city, town or village. 2. Developing students’ sk

ills of making notes, making sentences and organizing the sentences into paragraphs. 3. Using the words, phrases, language points and the link words in grammar in previous periods to make up a paragraph about some region. 4. Learning the ways of making comparisons of two regions. Language Focus 1. Train students’ ability of comparing two regions in different ways. 2. Using expressions and relevant knowledge in this module to make up a paragraph in order to check and strengthen language on this topic. 3. Practicing speaking ability. Teaching Methods 1. Discussion to know more about some differences between two places. 2. Practice to train students’ writing skills. 3. Help students have a good knowledge of what they learnt in this module. Teaching Aids Text Book, Multi-media Teaching Procedures Step1 Pre-Writing 1.Think of two regions, cities, towns or villages you know well. One of them could be your hometown. 2.Fill the blank with all information you have, then make a comparison of them. City A population climate industry location tourism transport Step2 While-Writing 1.Write sentences using your notes. For example: Harbin is a cold, industrial center in the north. It has over three million inhabitants. City B

Guangzhou is a hot, industrial port in the south. It has over four million inhabitants. 2.Rewrite the sentences and compare the two places. Use the link words (but, however, although , while) and the ways of making comparisons (much more than, as many/much as, fewer/less… than…) 3.Reorganize all the information , then write a passage with the outline. Para 1 Para 2 Para 3 Para 4 Para 5 Introduction: City A and City B. Their location and climate. Some differences and similarities in history (population , economy, industry) Both are attractive.(tourism, transport) Conclusion( your opinion)

Step3 Post-Writing Read your writing to your partner. Check and rewrite your writing according to the following. Then share it with the whole class. 1.Do you know the writer’s attitude and emotion? 2.Are there any good link words or phrases of comparison ? 3.Are there any good phrases or sentences? 4.Are there any spelling mistakes? Step4 Homework Working in group, try to make a postcard about your hometown. Features may include : places if interest shopping centers sports centers industry/economy other interesting features .

Part 2 教学反思
这是一节写作课, 基本上完成了老师课前预设的教学目标。 学生能够在教师的指导下将 短语扩充为句子, 再将句子用相关连词连成文章, 将文章按照归纳, 按对比的思路合理分段, 发展了学生归纳、对比的思维能力。在此基础上,教师鼓励学生将本模块所学的有关地区间 对比的常用句型运用于写作中, 这是对学生运用语言的能力的挑战, 激发了学生的学习兴趣。 学生通过合作、互评、展示,既巩固了所学,又提高了能力,取得了较好的课堂效果。
