Warming up (5min) Activity 1: (3min) Show 4 pictures about 4 heroes of different areas, ask the students to say the name of each hero. Ask the students to use one word to describe this kind of person. Answer: they are both heroes Ask the students to use one adjective to summarize some sharing characteristics of heroes. Write those adjective on the blackboard Activity 2: (2min) Show the picture of Yang Liwei and ask the students to say the name of him Show some basic information about Yang and ask:”could you find some big differences between Yang and us just according to the information here?” Answer: No Then ask the student to think about the question: what makes Yang a hero? Answer: space travel Say: Do you want to know more about the space travel of Yang? Please open your book, turn to page 22, and look at the passage National Hero. The end of the warm up section 2. Reading (15min) Activity 1: (7min) Ask the students to read the passage silently and do exercise 3. Ask the students to find the main idea of the whole passage while reading. Main idea: The space travel of Yang Liwei; China’s first manned space flight. Answer of e3: PPT p9 Activity 2: (8min) Ask the students to read the passage again and do exercise 5 in pairs. *the students should indicate where they can find the answer of each question.
