Period2 Reading and Vocabulary Teaching Aims: 1. Train Ss’reading ability 2. Make the Ss master the key words: accessible,academic,army,communication,consist of ,creat,data, defence, lecturer, military, millionaire,network,organisation, percentage, source, system, university, web, web browser Teaching Emotion and Values: 1. Try to raise the Ss’cooperation awareness in their study by pair work or group work. 2. Request the Ss to love science(especially IT),but also to realize the harm of the Internet. Teaching Important Points: 1. Improve Ss’reading ability. 2. Make the Ss master the key words: accessible,academic,army,communication,consist of ,creat,data, defence, lecturer, military,millionaire,network organisation, percentage, source, system, university, web, web browser Teaching Difficult Points: 1. How to improve Ss’reading ability. 2. Lead the Ss to talk in class actively. Teaching Aids: Multi-media Teaching Procedures: Step1 Greetings Step2 Lead-in Ask the Ss these questions: 1. Do you like surfing the Internet? 2. What can you on the Internet? 3. Which websites do you often visit? 4. Do you know what does WWW mean? Show the following words on the screen. accessible,academic,army,communication,consist of,creat data, defence, lecturer, military,millionaire,network,organisation, percentage, source, system, university, web, web browser Step3 Fast reading Glance through the first sentence of each paragraph and answer the following questions. 1. What is the Internet? 2. What is the World Wide Web ? 3. Who invented it? Step4 Careful reading Read the text carefully and decide if the following sentences are true or false. 1. There are millions of pages of information on the Internet.

2. The US army were the first people who used an Internet system. 3. Universities started using the Internet at the same time as the army. 4. The percentage of websites in English is getting smaller. 5. Tim Berners-Lee made it possible for scientists to use the Internet. 6. He has made a lot of money from his invention. Step5 Reading comprehension Choose the correct answers in exercise book and fill in the blanks according to the text. (on page 77) Step6 Fee talk Do you think the Internet is a good or bad thing for our study and life? Step7 Summary Although the Internet is a good palce to study,we’d better make it a tool to help us,not a trap to harm us. Step8 Homework Write a passage showing the advantages and disadvantages of the Internet.
